Identity- its aspects

Identity- which shell are we?

Which shell am I?

Whenever we have the conversation about identity I am reminded me of our sometimes-deluded perception of permanence as we miss the essence  of reality which is in its nature of emptiness evolving through time, and how this deluded perception affects both our  physical and spiritual well-being.

When we look at a plate one may be looking at it from the top, another from the side, and another from the bottom, yet they are all looking at the same object. The various perceptions will all be different.

There is also another way to look at the plate and that is to look at it as just being substance, ceramic or porcelain or metal or wood; it’s substance is a collection of atoms with strong bonds which prevent it from falling apart into microscopic particles and waves of energy.

If you drop a metal plate, it won’t break but will resonate and create sound. If you drop a wood plate, it probably won’t break, it may crack, and it will also create a lower frequency sound. If you drop a ceramic or porcelain plate it will shatter into many pieces, some large, some small, and the noise created from its fall will be in multiple frequencies.

And then you ask: where is the plate? has it disappeared because it is no more existent. It’s substance is still present but it has been transformed.

Should you burn the metal plate it will melt and be transformed into a mass of molten goo.If you burn the wooden bowl it will turn into ash and energy.

Metal, wood, sand, glass: all these elements can be transformed to become a plate however their elemental existence doesn’t depend on their being or becoming an object which has form.

The human form similarly is a complex of multiple diverse elements of mineral, organic, fire and water and air which evolves because of a DNA blueprint which directs its production and evolution in the womb for nine months after which it exits its primordial factory to continue its transformation and enter the world of external respiration, breath, and soul life.

Human cells breathe and the human organism also breathes to sustain its ‘life’ or existence. The soul is tied to the breath. When the breath stops the soul leaves the physical body. The spirit or soul is tied to the physical body. The emotional mind is tied to the physical body. When the physical body dies the breath or soul leaves the body and takes the emotional/mental body with it. These entities are attached to the physical body by permanent cords while we are ‘alive’. When the physical cord is severed by physical death the other two cords are also severed, the emotional/mental cord attached to the liver, solar plexus chakra, and to the pineal gland, and lastly the spiritual cord attached to the etheric aura detaches and leaves the physical plane.

So when we speak of identity we may speak of a trinity: a soul or spirit which animates our physical body, and which is navigated by the emotional/mental aspect of being. So when I ask you ‘Who are you’? will you define yourself as ” I’m so-and-so and I work as a -such-and-such”? or will you say: I am a permanent eternal soul living in a physical temporal body with an emotional/mental navigator? Or is it simpler to say: “I am light, love, and power” here to transform darkness into light, injury and hatred into love, and ignorance and indifference into power.
