The biggest obstacle to manifesting global peace and prosperity is this personal subjective sense of ‘separateness’ or ‘ego’. This part of ourselves which participates in our self-identifying with our body and mind keeps us apart from others to the extent that we identify ourselves as ‘that person’ as being separate and different from ‘that other person’ over there.
The ego gives rise to thoughts which judge and as incarnated being live out this dualism of ethics labelling and judging people and actions as either good or bad depending on our cultural socialization and conditioning.
The future of humanity depends on an adoption of Ken Wilber’s integral approach to living, reasoning, and being which is integrative, inclusive, accepting, and supportive of differences emphasizing the belief that we are as concerned about our brother or sister’s happiness and wellness as we are about our own. We also need to evolve our perception of reality from the primitive magical and mythic thinking forward past the rational towards the integral perception of society.
This sense of ‘oneness’ and community is the beginning to ending war and power struggles for resources based on greed and desire for more ‘stuff’.
When those individuals which have ‘more’ become aware that billions of our sisters and brothers don’t have clean drinking water, proper sewage systems to contain excrement to prevent disease and contamination of water supplies; the global economy can be transformed so that manufacturing and distribution benefits the 90% of those who are disadvantaged by non-ownership of capital.
The capitalist thirst for consumption needs to be re-directed to manufacturing products which create a re-distribution of wealth and resources, water, and protection of the planet’s forests and rivers, and air quality to reduce poverty and distress from those least able to help themselves improve their economic reality.
“Becoming aware” is the job which each one of us needs to take on as our primary responsibility, as our planetary goal for survival to improve living standards for those least able to help themselves we become better individuals, by becoming generous, loving and compassionate.
The advent of the internet and global connectedness has allowed Humanity the ability to ‘become aware’ of the plight of the poor and disadvantaged by no other reason than that of birth, nationality, and gender.
This new connectedness brings with it a new duty to take action and become involved in this new global movement to ‘peace-making contributions’ to ending poverty and dismantling defensive and offensive nation-building efforts.
Nationalism and its collateral damage is the greatest impediment towards achieving a global solution to poverty and economic inequality. The insistence on cultural diversity and exclusiveness divides global citizens from tolerance and acceptance of differences. We need to use our personal power to educate those who resist the integral movement. We need to bring the light of understanding to those who resist to care for those in need. We need to raise the consciousness of those who choose to stay in ignorance and selfish pursuits of material consumption and ‘more’.
What Humanity needs is more action, service, and desire for global equality and peace.
