Too often we allow ourselves to be distracted by the ephemeral, the adrenalin rush, the uncustomary experience; we too often search for the new peak experience, challenge, or feat of bravado or machismo without conscience of the consequences of the outcome.
This search for pleasure which is fleeting is for the addicted, for those who are manic/depressive, who can’t get enough highs in a day. The law of cycles and consequences dictates that for every high there is a low- this is the dualistic reality of our existence on this material plane. Those who can transcend the ego driven mind and allow their hearts to lead their soul development will evolve more quickly and reduce their pain and suffering now and in future lifetimes.
That is also the gift of being human, to be able to undo negative past lives karma and to accumulate positive future lives karma insurance.
What a gift it will be to be born again in our next incarnation with the awareness that we are who we are because of having lived well in past lives. This is self-actualization and enlightenment in the making. This is the birth we all long for, free of suffering with wisdom of our life’s purpose. Some of us discover it later in life. Some never achieve it and continue life and death in pain and suffering manifesting the four noble truths: that in life there is pain, that we will get sick, old, and die.
The extent of the pain and suffering depends on our ability to transcend our karma and stop creating negative karmic outcomes. That is where following the five pillars of character-building is key: to pursue accurate perception and correct perception, with constancy of aim and effort and non-laziness, with generosity and non-stealing, with honesty and non-lying, with moderation and non-excessiveness. Thank you Master Choa Kok Sui for these eternal gifts.
