Today I am inspired to write about what we think we know about God, Spirituality, Religion, and Evolution.
Humanity if pre-destined towards a return to the Causal Essence after death we would all have an inner compass leading us there. The whole notion that the Human experience is determined by an ancestral ‘original sin’ which has caused individuals to forget their spiritual origins, where they come from, and where they go once they die, sounds preposterous.
When one examines the Human mind, consciousness, and the evolution of language, metaphor, story-telling, and the development of technology to decipher Humanity’s journey through time and space we are left with two choices, one which takes us down the path of Intelligent Design and Convergence and the other which leads us down the path of Universal Divergence and Expansion without any predestined conclusion or outcome. And the possibility that these paths need not be opposing or contradictory and yet may lead to similar outcomes because universal consciousness and personal or planetary consciousness may coincide or collide.
The whole notion of Free Will bestowed upon Humanity and anchored in our consciousness has guided our decisions and choices to either pursue the path of pre-destination and Religious Devotion through historic superstition or to choose the divergent and expansive path of rational self-determination and purposeful invention and innovation. The old model gave us the choice of God or Science. Humanity chose Science over God. Once Humanity figured out that one could not have Science without God there evolved a Integrated Approach which explained that God is Causal and Science is just a mechanism to attempt to explain and understand God or the Universal Essence which is all-knowing, all-loving, and all-present.
Science founded on the Darwinian model seems to be solidly embarked on the second path of logical, rational, and didactic reasoning in a non-spiritual materialistic domination of nature, mathematics and physics being entrenched in the paradigm of determinism and pre-destination, and natural selection, removing the need for a God in the equations used to explain reality.
Unfortunately for Darwinians, quantum physics is leading Science towards the path of Intelligent Design and spiritual evolution of both God and all living sentient beings towards a destination which is unknown and other-determined. Therein lies the mystery.
We have free will, yet we are guided by Divine Cosmic forces and consciousness which leads towards principles of oneness, emptiness, and impermanence, and a consciousness of plenty.
The Darwinian model emphasizes principles of individualism, separatism, ego, survival of the fittest, competition, struggle for rare or limited resources, and a consciousness of poverty.
Now we are drifting past rationalism and industrial manufacturing draining our planet’s resources towards a destiny of global awareness of our inter-connectedness economically, psychically, and spiritually, moving towards the realization that our individual consciousness is dependent upon others’ thoughts, emotions, and actions globally and that what we choose and do indirectly affects all Humanity and the Planet’s future by the Butterfly Effect.
There is a Cosmic Universal Intelligent Design guiding the outcome of the Universe, it’s outcome being undetermined and variable because it exists on a non-dualistic plane where there are an infinity of possible outcomes.
In this Universe the linear becomes circular; the beginning or end is not perceived, there is only the ‘now’ wherein we perceive that we affect the direction of the Universe, however that is all illusion. Once our consciousness leaves our body and returns to its non-physical essence there will be no visible residue of our having ever been here. Over time whatever we have physically constructed will turn to dust, thoughts and emotional memories which others have of us will also dissolve into the ether once they shed their mortal coils and memories will fade, just like it is impossible to discern one grain of sand from another or one drop of water from another or one flame of fire from another. Though now we are perceived as separate we will upon death become one with all that is. The mind cannot understand this and that’s alright.
