Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!

This line from the ‘Wizard of Oz’ makes me reflect on our primal fears, lurking in the dark jungle of our sub-conscious. Fears of the unknown lurk there to challenge our courage, to stimulate our compassion for others, and to test our intelligence.
What is our quest made of? Is it being directed by the ‘Ego’ or by our ‘Soul’?
What is the intent behind us wanting to see behind the curtain and find out who is the Wizard?
Intent is everything. It is what directs us forward into making better informed choices or not.
That is our only real free choice: to choose delusion or to deny it and choose clarity. Our main choice is to either confront our fears and risk change and uncertainty or to deny it and to choose delusion and repetitive suffering.
Does accepting delusion reduce or amplify suffering?
It just delays the process of awakening the Buddha within.

The Buddha remains dormant until the inner ‘Soul’ is ready to awaken and make more difficult choices, risking loss and detachment from possessions, attachments, and loved ones, and choosing the narrow road less traveled. There are millions of Buddhas on this path yet they are unaware of the presence of the others because the path is solitary, even though the objective and goal is Oneness.
That sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it?
That’s why it is important for Buddhas which awaken to stay in the world and give testimony to the journey, to the path, to the Truth.
I keep coming back to the different levels of truth: Tamac, Wasto, and Tumpak.
The first level of truth is the visible, tangible, easily perceived literal level of truth.
The next level is Wasto, which incorporates symbolism and metaphor to understand reality.
The higher level of truth is Tumpak, whose source is intuitive and divine, which originates from above yet is known within.
We can choose to stay within the first level of Truth and refuse to expand our consciousness, or we can risk to embrace the deeper meanings of reality and find the inner courage to transcend the literal, visible, and tangible and discover higher levels of Truth which embrace the bigger picture of all of Humanity, of Oneness, of what is really behind the ‘curtain’.
